Depending on the purpose, heat can be applied directly to the product—using technologies like microwave or to treatment spaces such as packaging rooms or warehouses using mobile heaters.

The principle behind heat treatment is simple and natural: insects cannot survive prolonged exposure to high temperatures. When the temperature is high enough for long enough, the proteins and enzymes in their bodies break down, leading to their death. This method is capable of reaching deep inside the product, killing hidden pests such as larvae or eggs.

In addition to treating the product itself, heat treatment is also widely used for sanitizing processing or packing areas. This helps prevent re-infestation by eliminating any surviving insects or eggs on equipment and surfaces.
